Service description

Request a 18xy short number for a directory enquiry service to assist customers looking for a certain telephone number.

18xy short numbers are four-digit short numbers which can be requested by telephone service providers or private businesses to offer directory enquiry services via the Swiss public telephone directories. 

Please note the following when ordering a 18xy short number:

  • The service must be available at all times (24/7/365) throughout all of Switzerland and in the three official languages (German, French, Italian).
  • The provision of directory enquiry services for international subscriber directories is optional.
  • The personal data of subscribers who have chosen to be unlisted must not be disclosed.
  • OFCOM publishes the available and allocated 18xy short numbers and the addresses of their holders via its service Search for short numbers.
