What is a harmonised service of social value?
This is a type of freephone service defined by the European Commission which is available to citizens or visitors from another country to meet a specific social need. The service is intended, in particular, to contribute to the well-being or safety of citizens or specific groups of citizens, or to help people in difficulty.
Please note the following when ordering a 116xy short number:
- The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) issues a public notice to indicate when a new 116xyz short number is available. You have 30 days from the date of publication to submit a request for allocation via this service.
- OFCOM publishes the available and allocated 116xy short numbers and the addresses of their holders via its Search for short numbers service.
